Abstract | Nowadays, as the rise of mobile technology and popularity of new media, live webcast has more and more become an important way to communicate science. In this paper, Sci-Think, which is a new media platform and has rich experience in science related live webcast, is taken as example to analyze how live webcast plays a significant way in communicating science among scientists and to the public, indicated by online survey data. It also tries to explore what kind of issues and how much time scientists and the public are willing to devote to science related live webcasts. Besides, this paper also discusses the possibility and challenge of using the most popular live webcast platforms in China, such as Kuaishou and Douyin, to communicate science to the public. |
